Gua Sha, also called scraping, is one of the oldest healing techniques that has been used for thousands of years around the world. It involves palpation and cutaneous stimulation where the skin is pressured in strokes with a round-edged instruments. This results in appearance of small red petechia called ‘Sha’, which fades in 2~3 days. It removes blood stagnation, promotes normal circulation and metabolic processes. It also offers immediate relief from pain, stiffness, fever, chill, cough, and nausea.
